It doesn't matter how many times you change your password afterwards, this disk will always allow you to create a new password. Note, you only need to create a password reset disk for your Windows login password once. Keep in mind that Windows password reset disk is usually only useful for local Windows passwords. It's a quite handy tool to take if you tend to forget your password. Following image presents the password change command for user pinokio.Ī Windows password reset disk is a specially created disk (or USB flash drive for that matter) that easily restores access to Windows if you've forgotten your password. Where username is the user account for which you want to change the password. To reset your forgotten password, type the following command and press Enter: Type cmd, right click on Command Prompt (Admin) and pick Run as administrator. To use this method, run the command prompt (Windows console) press Windows key on your keyboard. Good news is most users don't have EFS-encrypted files and the loss of stored passwords probably isn't anything to worry about, however we just wanted to inform you about the consequences of resetting a password using this method. It is worth noting that: when you change a Windows password from outside the account (which is exactly what are we doing in this step)) the user you're changing the password for will lose all access to stored passwords, personal ceritifcates, EFS-encrypted files, personal certificates etc.

Changing the password on another Windows user's account should be easy, no matter which version of Windows you have, assuming you have an account with administrator-level privileges. Assuming you can still log in your Windows 10 system with PIN code or another admin account you should be able to use command prompt (Windows console) to reset Windows 10 password without any problems.
